Tips for Surprising Kids with a Disney Trip
Keep the child’s age in mind.
A teenager will want to know way in advance about the upcoming trip, so that they don’t make alternate plans with friends.
Younger children who are told they are going to Disney too soon will ask every single day until the trip. You need to find a timeline that is best for your child.
Be sure to tell your kids you are headed to Disney. It might seem like a fun surprise to just show up at Disney, but most people who told their kids they were headed somewhere else, whether it was the beach or grandma’s house ended up with disappointed kids when they showed up at Disney instead. The plan can backfire!
Many children enjoy the anticipation of a Disney vacation.
By taking them to the airport the next day, they don’t have time to enjoy the experience of looking forward to going. Be sure to allow time for anticipation to build.
Older kids might enjoy looking at maps of the parks or watching videos to see which rides they want to do. It’s part of the fun!
