Need some fun ideas for what to do while waiting in line at Disney? We’ve got you covered!
Today we are sharing our best ideas for what to do while you are waiting in line for a ride! Unfortunately, long lines are very common at Disney. It’s a popular place for a family vacation and for good reason! It’s truly a magical place.

There’s some definitely some things you can do to avoid long lines at Disney, but eventually, when you find yourself in one of those long lines….here’s some great ideas to make the wait time pass quickly!
1) Schedule Lightning Lanes
One of the best ways to use your time in line is to schedule lightning lanes and make a plan for what you want to do next.

You can often schedule your next lightning lane after you scan in to use one, so scheduling your next ride makes a lot of sense to do as soon as possible.
2) Mobile Order
Another thing my family likes to do in line is mobile order our next meal. We can ask our kids what they want, give them choices, and figure out the best options pricewise.

This will save you time in the restaurant because you can place your order before you hop on the ride, and then go get the food after you get off the ride.
If you are far from the restaurant, you might consider waiting until you get closer to place that order.

If you plan to eat at a table service restaurant, you can still save time by viewing the menu online so that you know exactly what you want to order when you arrive at the restaurant.
3) Enjoy the Queue
Disney does a great job with ride queues. Many of the line queues have things for kids to touch, interact with and play.

For example, you’ll find things to spin, drum, and interact with in the Winnie the Pooh line.

There’s cool things to see and touch in the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train queue. And of course, the Dumbo queue has a full playground inside of it!

Of course, not all rides have a fun queue. There’s other rides where the line seems to take forever because there’s not much to look at and it’s hot in the summer….such as the Jungle Cruise, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and Minnie and Mickey’s Runaway Railway.
4) Eat a Snack
Standing in line is a great time to have a little snack. Even if you aren’t the snacky type, it’s nice to have a little refreshment while you wait in that Florida heat.
We like to bring our own snacks into the park. I’d advise you to bring items that don’t melt (no chocolate!), and can stay intact inside of your park bag.
We like to bring granola bars, Lay’s Stax, mini chip bags, trail mix, etc. You can find some fun Gluten Free Travel Snack Ideas here.

5) Look for Hidden Mickeys
A fun thing to do in the parks is look for Hidden Mickeys. If you don’t know what a Hidden Mickey is….it’s the shape of Mickey’s head.
Disney Imagineers have added Hidden Mickeys all over the parks.
You are sure to find them in queues as well as unexpected places as well as you walk through the park.
6) Find It on the Map
As you enter the theme park, be sure to grab a paper map. Kids (and adults) love these maps.

A fun way to pass the time in line is to ask your child to find a certain ride on the map, to figure out where the ride is that you are at, and to figure out where they would like to go next.
7) Funny Questions
You can grab a printable list of Funny Questions for Kids here. These are a great way to engage kids in conversation and plenty of laughs.
We like to pull out some of these questions when the kids are getting tired of waiting and looking for something to do.
8) Would you Rather Game
There’s some fun printable Would you Rather questions here. Kids can take turns asking each other which thing they would rather do.
It’s classic and it’s a fun way to pass the time while you wait in those long Disney lines.

9) I Spy
Another classic idea for a line game is I Spy. To play, one person thinks of an item that they can see. Then they say, “I spy with my little eye, something (color, shape, texture, etc)
For example, you might see a black Mickey ear headband on a guest who is nearby you in line. You’d say “I spy with my little eye, something black.”
Then, the other players take turns guessing what it is. The person is guesses correctly first, is the new spy.
10) Disney Parks App

Disney has some online games that are designed to be played waiting in line with your kids. Be sure to check out the Play Disney Parks in the Disney Parks app.
