Space Mountain is an indoor thrill roller coaster designed to make you feel like you are flying through space. Since Space Mountain is almost 50 years old, though, the roller coaster isn’t as smooth or polished as you would expect from a modern roller coaster.
The roller coaster was designed based on technology used from the Matterhorn Bobsleds (a Disneyland roller coaster) technology and was put into Disney World’s Tomorrowland and covered with a Space theme instead of being a copy of Disneyland.
One interesting point is that there are two sides to choose from with slightly different experiences. The sides are mostly a mirror image of each other. People say that the left side seems to be a bit rougher. more drops than the slightly tamer right side.
Once you start, you will climb a large hill that will drive most of your experience. The thrill of this coaster comes from the very dark and hard to anticipate turns and twists you will take.
