Splash Mountain is a log flume ride based on the 1946 film Song of the South. This ride twists and turns throughout a system of well-designed canals. This allows both fun sequences with animatronics and multiple small drops.
The queue winds back and forth outside under the shade of some trees. Then it goes a bit further inside through some narrow passage ways. The Lightning Lane line really bypasses most of the wait and drops you in right in time to board.
There are ton of fun animatronic characters in this ride that make sure there is something to look at the whole time. Our kids as young as 4 love this ride and is less scary for them than a roller coaster.
You get more wet in the front two seats and many times the second row gets the wettest. The ride is very mild overall except the one really big drop.
Splash Mountain will be reworked and rebranded as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. This will replace the Song of the South theming whereas that movie which is set in post civil war restoration era, has some awkward tropes.
