Hi there gluten free Disney loving friends! Here’s the Best Gluten Free Hollywood Studios Restaurants and Snacks in 2024.
There’s no place like Disney. I absolutely love how Walt Disney World takes such joy in helping those of us with food allergies and dietary restrictions have a magical vacation.
If you’ve been feeling apprehensive about finding gluten free food at Disney, I hope this article can help remove any fear and replace it with anticipation and excitement of delightful gluten free treats!
My husband has been eating gluten free since 2015, because Celiac Disease runs in his family. Ironically, I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2020. So, we both are gluten free, even though we sure didn’t start out our marriage that way!
I’m sharing all of this to say, we understand. We live the gluten free life, and we enjoy all of these amazing Gluten Free foods at Hollywood Studios.
We aren’t random writers for a large company, just reading menus. Nope! We really do eat and enjoy these foods… and only recommend the BEST!
I’ve divided this article into 3 sections to help you navigate the best Hollywood Studios restaurants easier – table service restaurants, quick service locations, and gluten-free snacks!
Let’s jump in!
Gluten Free Hollywood Studios Table Service
Hollywood Studios has many fantastic options for table service restaurants.
In general, at Disney World, you will find that many chefs at sit-down restaurants are accommodating and often willing to make a gluten free version of menu items.
However, please note that it’s not always possible, and of course, always be polite!
1) Roundup Rodeo BBQ
In Toy Story Land, you can find Roundup Rodeo BBQ! This sit-down restaurant has all the charm and fun of Toy Story….and tons of gluten free options!
You’ll start with gluten free bread service. Yes, really!!! You’ll love the Sweet Pepper Jelly.
Next you’ll get salads, a platter with tons of delicious smoked meats including Ribs, Beef Brisket, Pork Sausage, and BBQ Chicken.
There’s also plenty of delicious gluten free side dishes including baked beans, potato barrels, corn on the cob, and slaw.
Then, for dessert, you can choose from several types of pie: Peach-Strawberry, Apple, or Lemon-Blueberry cheesecake.
This is a prix fixe menu, meaning you pay a fixed price, no matter how much you eat.
Roundup Rodeo BBQ is full of fun and the theming is very well done. My favorite part is when everyone freezes in the restaurant because “Andy is coming!”
What fun!
2) 50’s Prime Time Café
The 50’s Prime Time Café is found close to the giant green dinosaur on Echo Lake.
It’s legendary to the gluten free community because….they serve gluten free fried chicken! It’s an off-menu item, meaning – it’s not on the menu. This is because it takes a bit longer to prepare. If you plan to eat the gluten free fried chicken, you need to swing by at least an hour before your reservation, to let the hostess rely a message to the chef that you would like to order the gluten free fried chicken.
It’s a bit of a wonky system, but it’s worth it. How often can you get incredible fried chicken?!
Other gluten free menu options at 50’s Prime Time Café include: Meatloaf, Chicken Caesar Salad, and Seared Salmon. Also, very notable – the Peanut Butter and Jelly Milkshake. YUM!
The real fun though is the atmosphere of this diner. The waitresses and waiters will give you a hard time if you have your elbows on the table or show bad manners. The teasing and fun are all part of the magic!
3) Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano
Looking for an amazing Italian meal? Make a reservation for Mama Melrose’s! You’ll find warm gluten free rolls with olive oil for dipping.
There’s Margherita Flatbread and Carne d’Italia Flatbread for appetizers.
You can also find gluten free Caesar Salad, Spaghetti Bolognese, and Polenta with Sautéed Veggies and a Cashew-Cheese Sauce.
Lots of options on the main menu can be made gluten free – just politely ask if your chef is able to do so!
A few recommendations: the Charred Strip Steak with Four Cheese Pasta can be made with gluten free pasta as well as the Shrimp Pasta.
Gluten Free Hollywood Studios Quick Service
1) Backlot Express
Backlot Express is my go-to quick-service restaurant at Hollywood Studios. You can order via the Mobile app to get your food fast!
Their gluten free chicken nuggets and French fries will wow you!
Other gluten-free options include: gluten free smoked BBQ pulled pork, an Angus bacon cheeseburger, or a southwest salad with chicken.
There’s also gluten free dessert options including cookies and brownies!
2) Ronto Roasters
Looking for an excellent gluten free breakfast option? Ronto Roasters is the place!
You’ll find gluten free pita wraps with egg, grilled pork sausage, cheddar cheese and a peppercorn sauce.
For lunch, you can grab a gluten free pita wrap with roasted pork, grilled pork sausage, peppercorn sauce, topped with tangy slaw. Great for a quick bite!
Ronto Roasters closes in the afternoon, but you can often order the Ronto Roasters wraps in person at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo after 3pm.
3) Woody’s Lunch Box
This restaurant is known for its tater tots and grilled cheese, which is great for kids!
If you want something a little more exciting, be sure to check out the Brisket Melt and the Loaded Totchos (tater tot nachos). Both can be made gluten free.
This restaurant can get busy during the lunch hour, so we recommend you either eat early or late to avoid that lunch hour rush.
4) Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo
If you are a big Star Wars fan and you love spicy food, you’ll enjoy Docking Bay 7. The best items on the menu are the Batuuan Beef with Crispy Topato Stir Fry and the Spicy Chicken Tip Yip.
We don’t recommend the regular Chicken Tip Yip as it is very bland. (We’ve made this mistake!) It is literally served with plain white rice and plain broccoli, so there’s no flavor and the chicken block is has weird texture served by itself.
So….if you like spicy food….eat here….and if you don’t….skip it!
5) ABC Commissary
It seems like ABC Commissary is always changing their menu, but right now the go-to gluten free meal here is the grilled chicken club sandwich and fries.
It’s good, it’s fast, and a nice break from burgers and chicken nuggets (which, as a true chicken nugget aficionado, I never get tired of them until the end of a long week at Disney!)
6) Rosie’s All-American Cafe
Another great place to find gluten free Chicken Tenders and fries is at Rosie’s All-American Cafe. You can also find a gluten free burger here as well!
Rosie’s is a great option if you find yourself over by The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror or Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster near lunch time.
Note that food stand only has outdoor seating, so it’s not a great option in the extreme heat or rain. However, there are tables under umbrellas if you just want to grab a quick bite.
Gluten Free Snacks – Hollywood Studios
1) Hollywood Scoops
The Ice Cream Brownie Sundae at Hollywood Scoops is the go-to gluten free snack at Hollywood Studios.
Ice cream served over a brownie with chocolate sauce and a cherry on top…this is sure to please anyone with a sweet tooth!
You can find this delicious treat in the ice cream stand on the corner by Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster & the The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
2) Ice Cream Carts
My personal favorite way to cool off on a hot day is with a Minute Maid Frozen Lemonade Cup. Both the strawberry flavor and the lemon flavor are excellent and gluten free.
Also, don’t forget that the Mickey Mouse Ice Cream Bar is also gluten free. My kids LOVE these!
3) Popcorn Carts
Popcorn carts are found all over Disney World. It’s an affordable snack and easily sharable….and gluten free!
You can find fun popcorn options over at Kat Saka’s Kettle in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. There’s a Buttered Blue Grains as well as a Outpost Popcorn Mix.
As far as I know, the blue popcorn seems to be regular popcorn (just dyed blue!) The Outpost Mix is a spicy sweet combo.
4) Toluca Legs Turkey Company
Grab a gluten free giant turkey leg over at Toluca Legs Turkey Company. These are naturally gluten free and nothing says theme park food quite like this!
5) Milk Stand
The Milk Stand at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge serves up 2 fun gluten free options. That’s right – we can have the Blue Milk and the Green Milk.
Neither is actually milk. They are both non-dairy drinks made from coconut and rice milks and are like a smoothie in texture.
Blue Milk has a pineapple, lime, dragon fruit, and watermelon flavor.
Green milk is an orange, passion fruit, and grapefruit blend.
These drinks are kind of comparable to the novelty of trying Butterbeer at Universal Studios. But…..Disney hasn’t quite nailed a recipe as popular as Butterbeer.
So….it’s worth trying…..but…there’s room for improvement here, Disney.
Honorable Mentions
1) Pizza Rizzos
You can find gluten free pizza here. Like any of the gluten free pizza on Disney property….it can be hit and miss. It really depends on the chef on duty and how you like your pizza cooked.
However, if you have a child who needs to be gluten free, Pizza Rizzos might be just the thing you need!
2) Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant
I give this restaurant props for offering gluten free food in a super fun atmosphere. It’s set up like a drive-in movie theater.
However, service is slow….you’ll spent a LOT of time waiting so it’s not great when you are trying to make the most of your day in the park. And really not great when you are parched and need a drink.
It’s super dark so you can’t see your food and seating is awkward with young children as you are all seated forward to watch the movie.
My kids went between scared or not interested in the retro Sci-Fi movie clips. It just wasn’t kid friendly.
So….for my family, it was a one and done. Fun atmosphere, but we weren’t impressed by the food/service.
More Hollywood Studios Gluten Free Tips!
Here’s a few more tips about eating gluten free at Hollywood Studios:
Always mention your gluten allergy right away to the cast member taking your food order.
Ask to speak with a chef if you feel that your options are limited. (Sometimes chefs are able to adjust a dish to suit your dietary needs – but always ask politely.)
In Disney owned restaurants, you will find a gluten-free menu on the My Disney Experience App when you mobile order. Mobile ordering is a great way to save time in the parks.
I recommend that you walk in with a plan for your meals at Disney. Know your gluten free options, but be flexible in case one of your options doesn’t work out.
