Looking for gluten free treats at Disney World? You’ve got to check out the Disney Springs Gluten Free Bakery called Erin McKenna’s.

Here’s the low down on where you can find this allergy friendly bakery, plus the easiest way to get there, and everything you need to know about gluten free treats at Erin McKenna’s.

I had heard via a Gluten Free Disney group on Facebook that you could find a completely gluten free bakery at Disney Springs.  So, of course, we had to check Erin McKenna’s out!

But first, I want to explain that I’m no ordinary blogger, I actually eat these items myself. I know the joys and sorrows of the gluten free lifestyle. (Joys = finding something gluten free and magically delicious!) In 2020, I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease and my husband is also on a gluten free diet as well.

We have been consistently wowed by the way Disney goes above and beyond to offer delicious gluten-free options to it’s guests.

Alright, let’s talk about Erin McKenna’s Bakery at Disney Springs!

Where can you find the Gluten Free Bakery at Disney?

At Walt Disney World Resort, you can find a fun Disney themed shopping area with tons of restaurants and entertainment over at Disney Springs. This area was formerly known as Downtown Disney.

To get to Disney Springs, you have a few options.

  1. You could drive and park in the parking garage.
  2. You could take a free Disney bus from any resort to Disney Springs. (Also certain resorts offer free ferry boat service as well).
  3. Take a Lyft or Uber to Disney Springs.

Once you are inside Disney Springs, you can find Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC at The Landing just around the corner from the T-Rex restaurant. It’s between the Paddlefish restaurant and The BOATHOUSE.

When you first arrive at Erin McKenna’s, you’ll be shocked at how small the bakery is. But no worries, there’s quite a few options!

All of the menu items at Erin McKennas Bakery are gluten-free, dairy-free, refined sugar-free, soy-free, wheat-free, kosher, and egg-free.

Going into this adventure, I did some preliminary research via a Facebook Gluten Free Disney group.

Erin McKenna’s consistently gets mixed reviews from the gluten free community and I didn’t want to strike out with my choices here (especially since the treats are a little pricey!)

The items that were recommended the most often were the donuts, tea cakes, pineapple upside down cake, strawberry shortcake, crumb cake, cookies, and the cookie sandwiches.  Also, it was mentioned to ask the cast member what his/her favorites are.

In general, people who bought cupcakes were often the most unhappy with their purchase saying that they were dense and dry…..and telling people to go to Sprinkles instead for a gluten free cupcake.

Knowing this….I decided to try the lemon tea cake, cinnamon donut, thin mint cookie sandwich, and the cinnamon roll.

Review of Erin McKenna’s Bakery

Alright, so here’s the verdict! What we really thought about the gluten free goodies from Erin McKenna’s.

Gluten free cinnamon donut from Erin McKenna's

The Cinnamon Donut was my husband’s favorite item. The flavor was good but the donut itself was somewhat dry.

We felt like it was decent overall though for a donut and we’d probably grab one of these again.

The Lemon Tea Cake came highly recommended.

I really did enjoy this one. It had a nice thin frosting on top.

It was dry, but not in an offensive way.

I’d say this was my favorite of the items we bought and I’d totally get one of the tea cakes again.

gluten free cinnamon roll from Erin McKenna's

The cinnamon roll didn’t come recommended….but because of how hard it is to find (or even bake) a gluten free cinnamon roll….I decided to try it!

The flavor was good. But it was super dense.

So, it wasn’t what I had hoped for, but still gets a solid “good” rating from my husband and I.

Thin Mint Cookie Sandwich gluten free

The last item was the Thin Mint Cookie Sandwich.

This one was odd to me. It was cold, so the cookie was crunchy and there was frosting in the middle.

The flavor was good but overall, I felt like it was too sweet. Maybe it was because we were eating it at the same time as the other 3 treats first thing in the morning. But… I felt like this cookie in particular was giving me a sugar coma.

When I go back to Erin McKenna’s (and I do plan to!) I will probably only eat one treat (to avoid sugar comatose) and buy one or two gluten free desserts to take back to the hotel.

I’ve heard these gluten free goodies don’t keep a long time, so I don’t think I’d recommend stocking up for more than a day or two.

Is Erin McKenna’s Worth It?

You might be thinking….Erin McKenna’s Bakery isn’t in one of the Disney theme parks…is this worth the trip?

Well….it depends….

Erin McKenna's gluten free bakery items

If you have a Disney Springs day planned or a half day, I’d add this to the agenda.

Disney Springs is such a pleasant place to be.

Erin McKenna’s offers a lot of fun safe gluten free options for those of us who can’t risk cross contamination. There’s gorgeous displays of TONS of bakery items gluten-free eaters usually can only dream about.

However, personally, I bake gluten free all the time at home. So….I wasn’t exceptionally impressed by Erin McKenna’s baked goods. I don’t need to be vegan, so I’m used to having moist, soft baked items….and vegan items are typically dense.

All in all, Erin McKenna’s doesn’t rank in my “Must do” list for magical Disney Gluten Free treats. So, I personally won’t be making a special trip to Disney Springs for Erin McKenna’s. But if you’re in Disney Springs already….definitely give it a go!
