Hey there, gluten free friend! Here’s the Best Gluten Free Universal Orlando Dining Options!

Universal Orlando is a must-do when you are visiting Florida and you have a Harry Potter fan with you!

You’ll be happy to know that Universal Orlando Resort has options for those of us with food allergies and dietary restrictions.

In my opinion, Universal Studios isn’t as allergy friendly as the Disney theme parks, but you can still find options around the parks if you know where to look!

I hope this article can help ease any worries you might have about eating at Universal on a gluten free diet.

I was diagnosed in 2020 with Celiac Disease and my husband has been gluten free for many years longer than me because Celiac Disease runs in his family.

To me, it’s important that you know that we aren’t just random writers, but that we actually live a gluten free lifestyle. We have to watch out for cross contamination (isn’t that the worst part!) and we are always up for trying new gluten free options!

Today I’m going to share Universal Studio Gluten Free Dining options at both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure!

Gluten Free Universal Studios Florida

Let’s dive into the Universal Studios Florida gluten free dining options!

This theme park is home to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ – Diagon Alley as well as the Minions, E.T., M.I.B., The Mummy ride, and more!

1) Leaky Cauldron

If you have a Harry Potter fan, eating at the Leaky Cauldron™ is a must-do! In the books, the Leaky Cauldron is where Harry stayed for several weeks over the summer before heading off to Hogwarts™ for his third year.

Food here is British Pub style. Our gluten free options are limited, but safe and delicious.

When we visit, we enjoy the Specialty Grilled chicken sandwich on a gluten free bun with apple butter mayo, cheese, bacon, and tomato.

But best of all, it’s served with gluten free potato wedge fries and you can have Butterbeer with your meal (which is also gluten free!)

Leaky Cauldron is our go-to when the train is down and it’s meal time. Yup, it happens, but no big deal….because there’s Butterbeer to lighten your mood.

2) London Taxi Hut – Potato Kiosk

Right outside Diagon Alley close to the purple, triple-decker Knight Bus is a simple kiosk food stand that sells “jacket potatoes.”

These baked potatoes are simply amazing.

We recommend the loaded baked potato that’s filled with all kinds of delicious toppings.

I know it seems kind of funny to say that a kiosk is a favorite place for good food, but on those delightful spring days, sitting down to eat an amazing jacket potato by the fountain is kind of hard to beat!

3) Bumblebee Man’s Taco Truck

Over in the Springfield Simpsons section you’ll find the Bumblebee Man’s Taco Truck. This simple taco stand serves up 2 kinds of gluten free tacos.

Both the chicken tacos and the carne asada tacos can be made gluten free. Note that you’ll need to ask them to substitute corn tortillas for the tacos to be gluten free.

4) Minion Café

Do you have little ones that are excited to try out the Minion Café? Luckily, there’s several gluten free options here!

Choices that can be modified for a gluten free diet include the Steak and Cheese Ray Sandwich, Carl’s Crispy Cauliflower, Uncle Dru’s Belly Fillin’ Pork Sandwich, El Macho’s Salsa y Salsa Ropa Vieja, and Lucy’s Top Secret Salmon.

You will have to ask for gluten free modifications like substituting a gluten free bun or omitting an ingredient, but it’s nice to have so many options!

5) Richter’s Burger Co.

Looking for a great burger? Be sure to check out Richter’s! Many of the sandwiches can be modified to be gluten free!

They also have gluten free Truffle fries and of course regular French fries as well!

Plus, you can get a gluten free Shake, to dip those fries in, if you like! YUM!

6) Schwab’s Pharmacy

If you are looking for a sweet treat, don’t miss Schwab’s Pharmacy next to the Bourne Stuntacular.

You can find some gluten free ice cream options here, delicious milk shakes, as well as the crave able Dole Whip! (Yes, THAT Dole Whip!)

Alright, let’s move on to Islands of Adventure!

Islands of Adventure Gluten Free Dining

Islands of Adventure is home to Jurassic Park, the Hulk, King Kong, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade. At Islands of Adventure, you’ll find some fun Gluten Free Dining Options.

1) Green Eggs and Ham Café

This fun little café serves up several tater tot bowl options that are simply delicious. Choose from delicious Pizza Tots, Carnitas Tots, or go for it and try the Green Eggs and Ham tots.

Green Eggs and Ham Cafe

Our family tried all 3 on our last visit and found that all 3 were indeed delicious, but the Carnitas Tots were the show stopper for us!

The pizza tots were the most kid-friendly option.

But I have to say that I was surprised by how much I really did enjoy the Green Eggs and Ham. Such delicious food for a quick-service restaurant!

And FYI, you can also get gluten free Who Hash here as well.

The only downfall is the seating situation. It can get pretty hot at those little tables if you aren’t in the shade.

2) Three Broomsticks

If you’ve got a Harry Potter fan, you’re going to want to try to eat at Three Broomsticks.

Gluten free options include Rotisserie Smoked Chicken with corn on the cob and roasted potatoes, the chicken and ribs platter (without the BBQ sauce), baked potatoes, and fruit.

If you come at breakfast time, you can substitute gluten free pancakes to have along side scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, and sausage.

This is one of those places that you’ll have to politely ask a team member for substitutions because many items aren’t on the gluten-free menus.

3) Thunder Falls Terrace

Love options? Thunder Falls Terrance is the place for you!

Thunder Falls Terrace

Nearly everything on the menu here is naturally gluten free, except for the desserts.

You can get Roasted Chicken, Ribs, Wings, Pork & Cheese Nachos, Rotisserie Chicken Salad and much more! Plus the gluten free side dishes include fries, herb roasted potatoes, corn, black beans, watermelon, pineapple, etc.

Got to love all those choices!

Just make sure you stop by Thunder Falls Terrace for lunch, because it often closes early.

4) Mythos

Have an adventurous palate? Be sure to check out Mythos! The gluten free options on the menu are deceptively small…the key here is that many of the other options can be adapted to be gluten free. Just simply ask kindly!

Some great gluten free options include: Grilled Octopus, Spanakopita, Mezze Plate, Moroccan Lamb, Scallops, Pad Thai, Beef Medallions, and burgers. Plus you can find Crème brûlée and a delicous chocolate banana cake.

You’ll need reservations for this table service option!

5) Burger Digs

Just looking for great burger and fries? Be sure to stop by Burger Digs.

You can find burgers with a gf bun, French fries and milkshakes as well as a spring salad option (without the tortilla strips).

6) Confisco Grill

Confisco Grill is very knowledgeable about dietary needs and they are able to modify most items on their menu to give you plenty of allergy-friendly options.  They really do aim to please!

Some of the gluten-free options are wings, French fries, spinach and artichoke dip, nachos, Pad Thai, and grilled chicken sandwiches.

Reservations are recommended for the full-service restaurants at Universal!

And….that’s it!  I hope you have found lots of gluten-free dining options for Universal Orlando!

In our personal experience, you’ll want to walk in with a flexible plan of a few dining options with gluten-free items.

Especially if you plan to hop the train that goes between the parks.  We ran into a problem one day when we planned to eat in Hogsmeade, but the train was down and we couldn’t cross over.

However, it all worked out because of course, there’s plenty of great quick service restaurants with gluten-free food in Universal Studios Orlando.

Please note that not every restaurant is equipped to serve those of us with a gluten allergy.  To have a great dining experience, you’ll want to plan ahead and know your different options.
